Commission Your Portrait & Photo Tips

Your Pup Portrait of your cherished pet
is a one-of-a-kind, original work of art!

Pup Portrait Options Include

  1. In most cases, the image will be either 9" x 12" or  10" x 13" depending on the pet and the pose. It will be painted on archival quality watercolor paper. Packing and shipping to the continental US is included in the price of $250.

  2. If you prefer, your pet’s portrait can be painted on a 12” x 12” gallery wrapped watercolor canvas with all four edges painted, so that it is ready to be propped on a shelf as it is or later framed with a floating frame as you desire. The price on canvas is $280.

  3. Other sizes might better suit the pose of your pet in your photo, so chat with me on email and we can choose the perfect pose and the perfect size for your portrait.

Getting Ready for Your Pup Portrait

A clear, crisp close-up photo reference will be needed to ensure a good portrait. Here are tips for a good photo of your dog:

  • Natural outdoor light is preferred over flash photography. Early morning or late afternoon light usually works best.

  • Dogs look best if they are posed with their muzzle a little left, a little right, a little up or a little down.

  • A bit of tongue can be cute, but too much tongue does not make for a good portrait.

  • Get close and make funny noises that will get your dog’s attention, and you will get good expression.
